Mean Creek

Teenagers living in small-town Oregon take a boat trip for a birthday celebration. When they get an idea to play a mean trick on the town bully, it suddenly goes too far. Soon they're forced to deal with the unexpected consequences of their actions.

I pretty much never turn down a movie that purports to be in the "Fucked-Up-Coming-of-Age-Movie" category, and rarely am I disappointed. _Mean Creek_ does absolutely nothing to buck that trend, being a completely engaging movie that I started recommending to people before I'd even finished watching ...

The plot is about French drug dealers, who obtain heroin somewhere in the Middle East, and smuggle it in several steps to East Berlin, and from there to France (or so it appears), killing when necessary. The hero is an officer of East German customs, who with detective work, some masquerade, and occasional violent action ultimately unravels the whole network, of course with the support of the local customs departments.
