I Haven't Got a Hat

It's recital day at the schoolhouse. First up: Porky, who recites The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. A nervous kitten recites Mary Had a Little Lamb. The puppies Ham and Ex sing the title song. Oliver Owl plays the piano; Beans the cat puts a cat and dog inside, and they play a tune as well.

Instinct

After a diving excursion in the middle of the ocean, Lindsey is viciously sexually assaulted by Bruce, her instructor. She fends him of and they fall overboard into the water. Bruce grabs her and sinks her to the depths of the ocean. In this spiral of violence, she has no way to breathe.

SMUCKERS

SMUCKERS, the documentary, follows both the narrative being told throughout the song and the making of it, while also exploring the meaning behind art and intentions. SMUCKERS, though about many things, is to me an expression of the importance of making art, or doing something, for the enjoyment of the process and the love for the work. The song “SMUCKERS” is so unconventional in manner and reasoning but that’s part of what makes it so relevant and great. I hope to carry this truth into my documentary as the art, and the love it therefore speaks for itself.

Wang Qiang (Xing Yuanyuan), the most naughty “scumbag” in the third class of junior high school, and Shi Miona (Wang Bowen), a cranky homeroom teacher, accidentally swap bodies. Wang, who had been oppressed for a long time, got a taste of being a homeroom teacher, and Shi also experienced the feeling of being considered the “school scum”. As the date of Shi’s open class competition is approaching, the two urgently need to find a way to change back into their bodies. But first, they’ll have to overcome numerous obstacles…

The Cabinet of Jan Švankmajer

In Prague, a professorial puppet, with metal pincers for hands and an open book for a hat, takes a boy as a pupil. First, the professor empties fluff and toys from the child's head, leaving him without the top of his head for most of the film. The professor then teaches the lad about illusions and perspectives, the pursuit of an object through exploring a bank of drawers, divining an object, and the migration of forms. The child then brings out a box with a tarantula in it: the professor puts his "hands" into the box and describes what he feels. The boy receives a final lesson about animation and film making; then the professor gives him a brain and his own open-book hat.
