We Are the Future

In the 1980s, the musical and futuristic teacher Clara Celeste arrives at a school surrounded by bullying problems driven by issues of ethnicity, sexuality, gender, physique, and behavior. With the teacher's help, a group of students are finally able to find their voice and experience empowerment, with the freedom to live as they wish. Despite this, prejudice still surrounds the school, always seeking to intimidate the students. Wonderful World

Ben Singer is a failed children's folk singer, a career proofreader, a less-than-extraordinary weekend dad, and perhaps the most negative man alive. When Ibou is suddenly struck ill, Ben's pessimistic worldview seems unequivocally confirmed. It takes an extended visit from Ibou's sister Khadi for Ben to realize that cynicism may be all a matter of perspective.
