An adventure-filled exploration of conservation science, BEARS OF DURANGO embeds with a dynamic team of wildlife researchers tasked with conducting a black bear study in Durango, Colorado. In response to an exponential increase in black bear-human conflicts – including bears breaking into cars and homes, and cubs getting trapped in garages – Colorado Parks and Wildlife commissioned a six-year study to determine the factors behind the state-wide trend, and to propose solutions to quell it. At first, the disappearances were attributed to a serial killer or tribal warfare, but scientists eventually discovered that the culprit was a huge, man-eating crocodile dubbed "Gustave." This fascinating PBS documentary chronicles scientists' efforts to trap Gustave and move him to a nature preserve before he strikes again.

Elephant Whisperer

With experts predicting its extinction within four decades, Lek’s work is needed now more than ever and she has gathered a large group of supporters and volunteers in her quest for a better future for the Asian elephant. This moving film demonstrates Lek’s natural understanding of and rapport with these huge animals and will stir the viewers emotions as it highlights the often desperate state some elephants are kept in.
