The main character of the picture - military scientist Major Kovpaev Sergey Alexandrovich is working on a secret government project codenamed "Cerebrum". By a tragic coincidence, Sergei's family gets into a car accident, during which both of his sons are killed, and his wife is in critical condition in intensive care. Realizing the depth of his loss and blameing himself for what happened, the protagonist decides to take advantage of the ghostly opportunity to realize the results of his ten-year research.
