Tooth and Nail

The Colors Within

Totsuko is a high school student with the ability to see the 'colors' of others. Colors of bliss, excitement, and serenity, plus a color she treasures as her favorite. Kimi, a classmate at her school, gives off the most beautiful color of all. Although she doesn't play an instrument, Totsuko forms a band with Kimi and Rui, a quiet music enthusiast they meet at a used bookstore in a far corner of town. As they practice at an old church on a remote island, music brings them together, forming friendships and stirring affections.

After Landing

Jorge and Jeczebel left their four children behind in Venezuela, for what they hoped would be a better life in America. They didn’t expect a bus would bring them from Texas to New York. They also didn’t expect to encounter a city overwhelmed by one of the largest humanitarian crises in its history. The film explores the migrant experience from a deeply personal perspective as they struggle to live in the US and to support their children back home.

Malartic

Ten years after an enormous open-pit gold mine began operations in Malartic, the hoped-for economic miracle is nothing more than a mirage. Filmmaker Nicolas Paquet explores the glaring contrast between the town’s decline and the wealth of the mining company, along with the mechanisms of an opaque decision-making system in which ordinary people have little say.
