Two female investigators are called to a mysterious crime scene. A penthouse apartment, locked doors and windows, no signs of forced entry, two bodies; the married couple who lived there are dead. Everything points to smoke inhalation, since a fire had been lit in the fireplace. But the medical examiner discovers unusual injuries in the neck region on both bodies. The autopsy reveals: she died from a broken neck; he was strangled—probably with a rope. The two investigate and uncover even more cold cases that follow the same pattern. A call about yet another crime scene reinforces their conviction that something is terribly wrong—and that supernatural forces may even be at play. Can they solve the cases before there are more victims? Will they perhaps find themselves caught up in the maelstrom of a malevolent curse? Or have the investigators been led down the wrong path?
