Daily, Rika Umezawa battles a nagging sense of emptiness and dissatisfaction. She works a tiring job, comes home to an unappreciative husband and has little opportunity to enjoy life. The story is fascinating because I end up having so much empathy for the "anti-hero". It has something to do with how it was tied back to her idiotic childhood. I imagine anyone brought up in a catholic school probably ends up with a weird life....
