Nobody Had Informed Me

Menno de Nooijer had previously collaborated on Paul's films, but this one marks the launch of a directors' team that lasts until today. Two man stick their heads through a decor, photographs revolve around their heads. Unfettered reflection on their own work, the basic assumption being a quote from 18th-century writer Horace Walpole, which also appears in other titles of their films: 'Nobody had informed me that at one view - I should see a palace, a town, a fortified city, - temples on high places […]'. Truth or Dare

An exploration of the relationship between bodies, spaces and touch as a form of longing, Maja Classen’s latest documentary TRUTH OR DARE takes on an essayistic format inspired by the dramaturgy of a sex-positive party in Berlin and the COVID lockdowns of the past two years when the freedom of these spaces seemed possibly lost forever. The film’s protagonists – which include the Chilean queer sex worker Jorge and the genderqueer person Puck – are afforded the space to share their stories of loneliness, desires, sexuality, and identity and reveal how they have found a home and chosen family in Berlin’s queer, sex-positive community.

Translatina

The result of three years of production, more than 100 hours of filming, and interviews with people from 15 nationalities, Translatina paints an alarming portrait of the realities faced by transgender people in Latin America. Through a series of testimonies from civil society representatives and other stakeholders, this full-length documentary offers a realistic look at the challenges faced by transgender people in accessing education, work, justice, health care, and other services. It also shows how non-governmental organizations in Latin America are starting a dialogue with governments to demand opportunities for inclusion of transgender people, and how such initiatives may result in significant changes to ensure the rights of the population.
